Initially plying his trade as a pacey and skillful winger in his youth, Harby's most notable achievement during his youth was scoring the winning goal in Clawson Kings inaugral win (somewhat bizzarely for a U-11's match, this tight contest finished 2-1, instead of the usual 15 - 9). A brief spell with a second

youth team ended in acrimony when his aggressive approach resulted in a character clash with Young Lions namby-pamby manager resulting in a mid-season walkout despite clearly being the best player on the pitch. This was followed quickly by a similar falling out with his P.E. teacher and subsequent permanent hiatus from schoolboy football after a reckless challenge saw him sent off, in a basketball game!
Harby quickly adapted after making the step up to mens football, finding his superior fitness and speed useful assets in running around a bunch of drunken pub teams. However with the move into University league football, Harby's hedonistic lifestyle began to take its toll, resulting in a loss of speed and fitness and his inability to manage a full 90 in his favoured central midfield berth without vomiting. During this period Harby came under the excellent tutelage of Lepers manager Sheen, who having seen his aggressive nature and lack of pace, transformed Harby into the inadequate 'roving' centre back he is today.

Disregarding Basketball which isn't a real sport anyway, Harby has astonishingly never been booked. Harby claims to have broken three opposition player's legs during his career.
