Zee-TV-ZOU - and the re-birth of St. Damien.
The Leper crisis continued as a crucial game came up against FC Zizou - a week after they had gained a point against CHA that put them in with an outside chance of promotion.
The long-felt absence from action from several Lepers had caused an acute case of distress. The team needed some support - and there was only one place to find it - the
Department for Communities and Local Government. For hidden within this oversized, over-bureaucracized government department, that recently launched a new fund to "support Muslim communities to unlock the potential of women and young Muslims in making communities resilient and stronger in facing down the voices of violent extremism", there was divine salvation in the form of St. Damien.
St. Damien, as all good Lepers know and understand is commonly perceived to be the Patron Saint of Leprosy after giving "himself in the service of poor lepers through a life of poverty, chastity and obedience in imitation of Jesus Christ". A bit of a weirdo clearly, and hopefully the last time that JC will be mentioned on this website, except in blasphemous circumstances. Damien died from Leprosy on the island of Hawaii from leprosy in April of 1889.
The real Lepers' Damien was quick to get off the mark for the Lepers when he sidefooted the ball home in off the post, much to the joy of his instantly adoring fans! The Lepers had found the man to deliver them from their difficulties.
However, Zizou scored three and won the game. It wasn't to be - oh well. Onto the next week!
Beer is nice - and thoughts at the Gunner were quickly diverted to the prospect of Leper cricket on the Monday.
