Momma Kiely contest a nice game with the Lepers

Political support for the Lepers?: Leper MP

Dateline: Thursday 17th of May 2007.
Occasion: Lepers attempting to extend their unbeaten run in Division 4.

The Lepers came into their game against the Mommas with another pandemic afflicting the side. A massive blow to the side came with the deportation of Hoskins to the well-known Leper colony of New York. Mark Jerzak's army training also left the Lepers without their on-pitch "diplomat". Matthew Ames continues to suffer from Leperalysis, a disease known to dehabilitate Lepers.

And so the Lepers went into battle with a battle-hardened seven. A tactical reshuffle saw Sheen masterminding the side from the back, protected by the Alexi Lalas-esque defensive partnership of Spike and Harvey (both without the ginger beard). Drake anchored the midfield and Webb led the forward line with style.

Tic-Tac-Toe went the game, with a little bit of give and a little bit of take, the game was one of oppression. Was this to be the Lepers' first ever nil-niller? Fortunately not. Drake pounced on a defensive ineptitude and placed the ball home, much to the delight of the Lepers.

The Lepers extended their first half lead when Spike broke the shackles of his defensive duty to capitalise on his immense talents and blast the Lepers two goals ahead. Stoner was introduced shortly before the break, for Webb, and instantly began to cause mischief with forays into the opposition half.

The interval came with the Lepers in a dangerously uncomfortable position, although their self-belief was surely going to see them through.!?

The latter half of the match did not go well for the Lepers as an intelligent throw out from Momma Keeper set a Kielster free who cleverly chipped over the Bear. Minutes later the Kielsters thought they were level as one of 'em blasted the ball home after a great Sheen save. Fortunately the excellent referee identified the player's intrusion into Sheeno's box and the goal was disallowed.

That was the end of Momma. Spike blasted home a ripsnorter from the halfway line, possibly with his left foot, to make it 3-1. The Lepers breathed a collective sigh of relief. Then, with the clock running down, Spike obeyed his keeper's commandment to "make a run for it" and picked up a sideways pass from the striker to guarantee the Lepers' sixth straight win in Division 4.

Come on the Lepers!
