The time had come ... the whole season rested on the following 30 minutes of football. The Lepers were wary, despite their excellent form since the terrible draw with the Chavs. 7 consecutive wins since then had seen the Lepers emerge as the fantastic footballing side that everyone knew they could be.
8 of the 9 Lepers were there, with only Phil Hoskins missing due to work commitments.
The match itself began in cagey fashion with neither team willing to give an inch. However, it was only a matter of time until the Lepers got their breakthrough, and it was Drunk Drake who opened the scoring. Using his tried and tested method of hitting the ball straight at the keeper, Drake reeled away in glory.
A second Drake goal shortly before half-time gave the Lepers a degree of comfort at the interval. The lads regrouped during the 5 minute break and prepared for the final push.
Shortly after the break, Matt Ames, the Lepers' top goalscorer added a third as the Lepers could almost touch the trophy, and Division 5.
A touch of violence marred the second half as a Lebowski-ite lashed out at the effervescent John Harvey and was giving his marching orders.
John Harvey added the final touches for the Lepers with a fourth goal and the lads played out the remaining minutes until the final minute was greeted with jubilation, as the Lepers' achievements were realised.
The party was ready to begin, and it was down to the Gunner for Champion, Chicken Burgers and Celebrations!
